The Nature of Music Inter- and Transdisciplinary Approaches to a Human Universal

In December, from the 10th to the 12th, 2025, the NaMu Conference will take place at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, featuring one of the keynote address from Marisa Hoeschele. This conference aims to bring together students and early-career researchers to explore the inter- and transdisciplinary nature of music research. Music is fundamental to human experience as it shapes cultures, expresses emotions, and forges identities. Understanding the “why” behind this profound human trait requires collaboration across diverse fields, and submissions from areas including music perception and cognition, psychology, behavioral biology, acoustics, biomusicology, music theory, sociology, education, and technology are invited.
