PhD Orientation Week

PhD orientation week 2025

29.9. -01.10.2025 - Registration open

Every winter semester, the Doctoral Center organizes a welcome and information event for new doctoral students. The Vice Rector for Research and International Affairs welcomes all new doctoral candidates at the University of Vienna. Over the course of three days, important information is provided about the PhD process, services, obligations, teaching, professional development, contact points, etc. The event begins with a joint breakfast with the Doctoral School, where you can get to know the school coordinator and your peers. Further events are offered across disciplines and also provide opportunities to exchange with new PhD candidates at the University of Vienna.

 Events for new PhD candidates

We are offering regularly welcome and information meetings for new candidates starting at our Doctoral School. Our goal is to support you at the beginning and give you the most important guidelines. In this meeting we will go through the whole process of the PhD life cycle and give you information about our school in general. You are also welcome to prepare questions you are interested in. We are also interested to hear more about you and your research.
