PhD-Organized Summer School Grant


The VDS CoBeNe invites CoBeNe PhD fellows to submit proposals for PhD-organized summer schools integrating both academic and social components for junior researchers. The mid-term goal is to develop annual summer schools with a specific topic, targeting CoBeNe PhD fellows and affiliated international junior researchers.

Call

  • Application deadline: 01.03.2024, 23:59
  • Amount: Up to € 15.000,- for direct costs, including personnel (e.g. trainer, technician) and non-personnel costs, including event travel & accommodation, rent for location, materials and supplies.
  • Start: summer 2024

Requirements

All VDS CoBeNe PhD candidates are eligible to apply as head of the project proposal. The project group requires at least two VDS CoBeNe PhD candidates, ideally from separate research disciplines: Psychological Sciences I Behavioural & Cognitive Biology I Neuroscience I Cognitive Humanities

Proposal Selection Criteria
Creative ideas coupling research activity and networking will be prioritized, keeping the main objective on academic training and hands-on-experience. Priority in proposal content:

  • Innovativeness and originality of the proposed summer school program
  • Feasibility of the project including a budget- and time plan

Topics
Topics can range from exploring new paradigms in theory and practice, from field methods to statistics, or any kind of relevant training and not to forget the importance of social events.

  • Compliance with the VDS CoBeNe regulations for PhD candidates:
    • agreement to the Code of Good Practice
    • FÖP within the first year after enrollment
    • doctoral thesis agreement (4 weeks after FÖP)
    • annual report (yearly after dissertation agreement)
    • TAC meetings (annual)

Application

  • Proposal not longer than 2 pages or 3.000 characters describing the aim of the planned summer school
  • Project team of at least two VDS CoBeNe PhD candidates from different research foci
  • Budget- and time plan
  • Support letter from your supervisor(s)
